(HALIBURTON, ON) – On September 12, 2015 at approximately 4:00am a Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along County Road 503 at the intersection of County Road 507 in Highlands East Township stopped a Grey Plymouth Voyager Van. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. A 3-day driver’s license suspension was served following a warn range result at the road side.
The male driver, Abdul MILLS, age 22, from Scarborough, ON was also issued several Provincial Offences Notices including:
· Adult Novice Driver- B.A.C. above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
· Drive Motor Vehicle with open liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
The Haliburton Highlands OPP is reminding motorists that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or stay overnight.
