(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – Members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit along with assistance of members of the Kirkland Lake OPP have charged a local man and woman with several drug offences. The charges stem from the investigation of illegal drug related activities in the Kirkland Lake area. It culminated with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence located on King Street and the search of a vehicle in Kirkland Lake.
Seized as a result of the search was prescription medication, marihuana, drug paraphernalia, a vehicle and money. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $3,000. The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. on August 13, 2013.
Charged is Mervyn YULE age 74 of Kirkland Lake with Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
Also charged is Ashley LAFRANCE age 20 of Kirkland Lake with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Breach of Probation. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on October 17, 2013.
