(TOWN OF ESSA) – On Friday April 15, 2016, at approximately 4:10 p.m., a member of the Nottawasaga OPP Traffic Unit was conducting speed enforcement on the 10th Side Road of Essa Township, through the hamlet of Egbert. School buses had just allowed children to disembark and they were in the residential area.
Rory D’ORAZIO, 22 years of age from Barrie, ON was observed driving his vehicle travelling at 121 km/h in a 50 km/h speed zone.
He was subsequently stopped by Police, where he received a roadside suspension and his vehicle was seized.
Nottawasaga OPP would like to remind motorists that with the nice weather, children are often in the area of roadways and drivers need to be extra vigilant especially in residential areas.
Motor vehicles take a longer distance to stop with every kilometre over the speed limit they travel. This increase in stopping distance can lead to unnecessary tragic results
