YOUTH INJURED IN HUNTING ACCIDENT

(Havelock Belmont Methuen Township, ON) – On Tuesday November 5, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of an hunting accident, that occurred near Fire Route 76.

Officers and Paramedics were dispatched to County Road 46 in Havelock Belmont Methuen in response to a report of a hunter being accidentally shot while at a hunt camp near Fire Route 76.

Upon attending the scene officers determined that a 17 year old male was accidentally shot in the shoulder by another hunter in their party. The hunters transported the youth to County Road 46 where he was examined by attending paramedics.

The youth was treated at the scene and transported to the Campbellford Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment. The youths injuries are seen as serious but not life threatening.

Ministry of Natural Resources have been called to assist in the ongoing investigation.
