Woman Fights Off Home Invader Armed With Bat

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) In the early morning hours of Monday September 9, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for service where a female reported a male suspect with a baseball bat had forced his way into her home by her bedroom window.

OPP members attended to the Cavan Road residence in Hamilton Township where they found a visibly upset female who told police that at approximately 2:44 am she heard noises at her darkened bedroom window and found a male climbing in through it. The male was armed with a baseball bat and began searching the females’ residence. A physical altercation took place between the two and the suspect fled from the scene back out the window. The victim was not injured and only a small quantity of prescription medication was stolen.

Peterborough OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU), Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit (K9) members along with Northumberland Crime Unit detectives attended to assist with the investigation.

The suspect is described as:

– a white male

– late 20’s to early 30’s

– nylon panty hose over face

– thin build

– no facial hair

– short hair

Clothing:

– blue nylon zipped hooded sweater

– pants but unknown type
