The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman in connection with an assault last night in Chatham.
Around 8:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a residence on Mary Street in regards to a disturbance. At this time, officers found two women involved in an altercation. Through investigation, officers learned that a 31-year-old attended a 53-year-old woman’s residence. After consuming a quantity of alcohol together, the 31-year-old woman cut herself in the hand with a knife then assaulted the other woman. The 53-year-old sustained a laceration to the hand from the knife as a result of being pushing to the ground and trying to defend herself.
Both women were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical treatment.
The 31-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The 53-year-old woman also faces a charge of failing to comply as she was bound by conditions not to communicate with the 31-year-old woman. Both women will be held pending a bail hearing.
