(HURON COUNTY, ON) If you are in the application process for a new career and your prospective employer requires a criminal record check. Where do you go? Where are the forms? What are the fees? These are common questions people have when they are tasked with obtaining a Criminal Record Check or a Police Record Check. The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is providing the following information to assist those in need of a criminal record check.
Huron County OPP provides this service at the following detachments: Huron OPP located on Bluewater Veterans Highway south of Goderich, Goderich OPP, Exeter OPP and Clinton OPP Detachments. Those requiring checks must attend in person for drop off and pickup during administrative hours Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
A Criminal Record Check is intended for applicants who are currently or will potentially be involved as a volunteer, employee or in any situation where a basic Criminal Record Check is requested. A Police Record Check provides the same information as Criminal Record Check along with any local police involvement. To obtain a Police Record Check you must provide a letter from the hiring agency or the agency must complete the “Purpose of the record check†section and affix their stamp at the bottom of the consent form. A Vulnerable Sector Check is a check intended for individuals who intend on working or volunteering with the vulnerable sector. A vulnerable sector check is an agency/organization driven request. In order to have this done you must have an agency/organization letter which explains that you need a vulnerable sector check. You will also need to give a detailed description of the specific job you will be hired/volunteer for as well as a hiring managers name and contact number.
The necessary forms can be conveniently found online at www.opp.ca – look for the How do I?” tab on the home page. Alternatively
