(COLLINGWOOD, ON) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a wires down call yesterday afternoon in Collingwood.
On the 24th of August 2015 at approximately 1:30pm, OPP officers along with Collingwood Fire Department, Simcoe County Paramedics and crews from Collus Power-Stream attended the area of Hume Street and Pretty River Parkway for a call about a forklift that had taken down some hydro wires. The incident, which took place on a construction site, was the result of a forklift moving some scaffolding which came into contact with overhead wires.
Thankfully the operator remained in the forklift which prevented him from getting any injuries. Collus Power-Stream crews attended and shut off the power and the operator was attended to by paramedics and released at scene.
