Wesley SLOGAN – Drug Driving

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On January 16, 2016, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) officers observed a blue Pontiac van travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401 eastbound, near Dingman Drive, in the City of London, Ontario.

Police initiated a traffic stop. Further investigation lead to a field sobriety test, which the driver failed. He was arrested, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment, where a drug recognition evaluation was conducted.

As a result of the police investigation, 24-year-old Wesley SLOGAN, from Windsor, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (drug), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC), and possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). He was further charged with speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear, and is scheduled to answer the charges before the London courts on February 18, 2016.
