Weekend Update – Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 120 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, motor vehicle collisions and impaired drivers.

On January 6, 2016 at approximately 2:50 a.m., the Orillia OPP received a report of a single motor vehicle rollover at the intersection of Muley Point Road and Concession Road 10 in Ramara Township. Upon arrival officers determined that the driver had left the scene of the accident on foot. With the assistance of the Canine Unit and Central Emergency Response Team (ERT), a search was conducted for the male driver who was located and arrested a short distance from the collision site.

Josh REGO, 31 years old of Brampton, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol and Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal court on March 8, 2016.

On January 6, 2016 at approximately 6:09 p.m., the Orillia OPP received a report of a single motor vehicle into the ditch at the intersection of Highway 12 and Sturgeon Bay Road in Severn Township. Upon arrival officers located the vehicle in the ditch and the male driver was arrested.

Brian SHORTALL, 49 years old of Newfoundland, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 mgs Blood/Alcohol. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal court on 1 March, 2016.
