Weekend Update For Orillia OPP

(ORILLIA, ON.) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 116 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.

There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints, numerous motor vehicle collisions and possible impaired drivers.

Over the weekend OPP officers charged 2 persons with impaired driving charges.

On March 4, 2017 Orillia OPP members initiated a traffic stop in the City of Orillia. As a result of the stop police charged Richard MASTERNAK, age 52, of Etobicoke with:

Impaired Operation While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Operation Over 80 mg of Alcohol Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

Possession of a Schedule II Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of March 21, 2017 at the Orillia Court of Justice.

On March 5, 2017 Orillia OPP members initiated another traffic stop within the City of Orillia. As a result of the traffic stop officers charged Kyle WINGROVE, age 28, of Orillia with:

Care and Control While Ability Impaired by Alcohol contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

Care and Control Over 80 mg of Alcohol Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for March 28, 2017 at the Orillia Court of Justice.
