(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the past weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 117 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.
There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarm, 911 hang-ups, motor vehicle collisions, domestic/family disputes, theft, Liquor Licence Act complaints, mischief complaints and possession of stolen property.
On October 19, 2014 at approximately 8:57 p.m., Orillia OPP stopped a vehicle on Highway 11 southbound in Orillia in relation to a driving offence. While speaking with the female driver, officers noticed shopping bags concealed behind the driver’s seat. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle involved in a shoplifting incident in the Parry Sound area.
The two female occupants of the vehicle, both from Toronto, were arrested at the scene. Both have been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and were released on their own Promise to Appear.
