(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On September 7th, 2014m, shortly after 10:00pm Quinte West OPP received 25 year old Anthony James MURRAY of no fixed address into their custody. The accused was arrested by Durham Regional Police on a Quinte West OPP warrant. Quinte West OPP first began this investigation in April 2014 after a hand gun and ammunition were found in playground in Trenton. The firearm had its serial numbers filed down. The joint investigation involving, Quinte West OPP Street Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Unit, and Durham Regional Police led to the identification and the arrest of the accused. The accused was charged with:
1. Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order 117.01(1) CC X 4
2. Possession of a firearm knowing Serial Number has been tampered with 108(1)(b) CC
3. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 88CC
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 91(1) CC
5. Fail to Comply with Probation Order 733.1 CC
The accused will enter into a bail hearing on Monday September 8th, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
