(WALPOLE ISLAND, ON) On October 30, 2013 at around 1:30 p.m., Walpole Island Police, Walpole Island Fire Department and Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to a single vehicle crash at the corner of Chiefs Road south and Altiman Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that for reasons unknown at this time, a Chevrolet vehicle travelling south on Chiefs Road south struck a culvert. The lone male occupant, 84 year old Michael HOGAN from Walpole Island, was transported to Sydenham District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team was called in to assist with the investigation. Traffic was diverted around the area for several hours while the investigation was conducted.
The investigation is continuing.
