Vicious Assault In Owen Sound Triggers Multiple 911 Calls – Name Of Repeat Offender Released

On August 6 th , 2017, at approximately 9:35 p.m. the Owen Sound Police Service and Emergency Medical Services responded to several 911 calls to attend an address on the west side for a vicious assault that was still in progress.

Members of the Owen Sound Police attended immediately and located a group of people gathered outside of a residence. Police located the victim lying on the ground, injured and bleeding from his face and head. Witnesses reported to police that the victim was repeatedly punched, thrown to the ground and then repeatedly kicked by the aggressor.

The accused was still on scene and Police were quick to apprehend the man, taking him into custody without incident. Upon further investigation into the assault, information was learned that the victim and the accused were known to one another and had both consumed a quantity of alcohol before having a verbal dispute. The victim was transported to the Grey Bruce Health Services for medical treatment of his injuries. The seriousness of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time and the victim still remains in hospital.

The accused person, identified as 47 year old Francis Troy Thomas of Owen Sound, was held in custody on the charges of Aggravated Assault, Fail to Comply with Probation and Possession of a Schedule II Substance. Thomas is to appear by way of audio before a bail court held in London,
