(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Friday the 24th of November 2013, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Snow Road in the Town of Bancroft. A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. then turned around and drove away. The vehicle and male driver were located involved in a collision on Snow Road. The male was arrested and transported to an OPP detachment.
49 year old Vernon SHANNICK of Bancroft, Ontario has been charged with the following:
Operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.
Impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Breach of recognizance (2 counts)
Mr. SHANNICK was held in custody pending a bail hearing. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, Ontario on the 15th of December 2013 for his next bail hearing.
