(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – A 20 year old male has lost his vehicle for seven days and is now facing charges for driving too fast.
On December 9, 2013 at 10:45 p.m. a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling in the area of Thorndale Road at Cobble Hills Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre. The officer observed an approaching car travelling well in excess of the posted speed limit. The officer obtained a speed reading of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling in excess of 50 km/h over the posted 80 km/h speed limit.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, 20 year old Timothy SELVEY of Stratford, ON has been charged under the stunt drive legislation. The vehicle he was driving has been towed and will be impounded for seven days. The accused is scheduled to appear in a London Provincial Court on January 13, 2014 to speak to the charge.
The OPP will continue to actively enforce and educate the motoring public on the important role they play in road safety. Safe roadways are everyone’s responsibility and starts long before a vehicle is ever turned on.
