Vehicle Goes Through Bean Field Before Hitting Mexican Consulate

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On October 23, 2016 at approximately 5:25 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Essex County Road 33 and Highway 77 in Leamington, Ontario.

A black Dodge pickup truck was travelling westbound on Essex County Road 33 when it left the roadway and travelled through a bean field before striking the rear wall of the Mexican Consulate situated in the 300 block of Highway 77.

The lone male driver of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

There were no persons inside the Consulate at the time of the collision.

Leamington Fire Services and Essex County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also responded to the scene.

The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are currently on scene completing the investigation.

No roadways have been closed at this time as a result of the collision.
