UPDATE – SEARCH WARRANTS EXECUTED

(CAMPBELLFORD, ON) – Yesterday, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a search warrant and discovered a large methamphetamine clandestine drug lab located at 221 Banta Road Warkworth, Ontario.

A second search warrant was executed at 31 Nelson Road in Campbellford, Ontario where another drug production facility was located.

Due to the potential impact that these labs can have on the environment, OPP investigators immediately notified the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) and yesterday they too attended both of the identified locations. At present, there have been no environmental concerns identified and officials from the MOE are continuing to monitor the dismantling process. Anyone who may have specific questions regarding the environmental impact is asked to contact the Peterborough District Office of the Ministry of the Environment at (705) 755-4300 or toll free at 1-800-558-0595.

Due to the sensitive nature and systematic process associated with the dismantling of methamphetamine clandestine drug labs, the process is continuing today under the expertise of the OPP Clandestine Laboratory Investigative Response Team and members of the Toronto Police Service Clandestine Lab Unit.

This investigation is continuing and further information will be provided at a later date.
