UPDATE-POLICE SEEK PUBLIC ASSISTANCE WITH THEFT OF HANDCYCLE

CYCLE RECOVERED, CHARGES LAID

(ORILLIA, ON) – On July 23, 2013 the Orillia O.P.P. (Ontario Provincial Police) received a report of a theft of a custom handcycle.

The handcycle was taken sometime around July 19, 2013 from an address near Mississauga Street East and Matchedash Street South.

The handcycle is a 2009 Varna Liberator, black in colour. The cycle has added options of a BionX electric assist motor as well as a basket and cane holder.

On July 25, 2013 the Orillia OPP were contacted by a local business who believed that they had the stolen cycle in their shop. When officers attended with the owner, it was verified to be the stolen cycle and was returned to the owner.

Victor LAHAY, a 25 year old Orillia man, has been arrested and charged with Break & Enter with Intent and Possession of Stolen Property in relation to the theft. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on August 27, 2013.

The investigation is continuing and another suspect is being sought in relation to the theft.
