Two Arrested For Trafficking Drugs

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – On October 15, 2016 at approximately 10:10 a.m., officers from the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop which led to the seizure of controlled substances.

Kapuskasing officers seized Cannabis Marihuana, Methamphetamine and Alprazolam that had a combined estimated street value of $42,000; police also seized several weapons.

Marc QUIRION, 23, of Kanata, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Alprazolam contrary to section 5(2) CDSA

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(3) CC

Travis PAQUETTE, 25, of Greenstone, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Alprazolam contrary to section 5(2) CDSA

Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

The accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on, respectively, November 28, 2016 and December 19, 2016.
