(JOHNSON TWP, ON) – On November 10, 2016 at 8:16 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Highway 17, Johnson Township when they observed a motor vehicle being operated at a fast rate of speed. The motor vehicle was subsequently stopped.
While speaking with the driver, the police determined that the male driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
As a result of the investigation, Derek John McCLELLAND (26) of Innisfil, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:
Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; and
Driving while Disqualified, contrary to section 259(4) of the Criminal Code
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, on December 1, 2016.
