(SMOOTH ROCK FALLS, ON) – On September 8, 2015, the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a structure fire on Main Street in the Town of Smooth Rock Falls.
Police investigation revealed that two youths had set a fire in an abandoned building resulting in two properties, including BLANCHETTE’s Freshmart, being completely destroyed by the fire.
Police have arrested and charged two males, 15, of Smooth Rock Falls under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) with the following offence;
· One count of Arson – Property Damage contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Smooth Rock Falls on November 5, 2015 to answer to the charges.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the James Bay Detachments and the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office.
