Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Stolen Credit Cards and Drivers Licences

On May 9, 2015 at approximately 11:00 am East Region Highway Enforcement Team (HET) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a white sedan traveling east bound on Highway 401, west of Exit 730 in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township.

Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle. Police seized a large quantity of forged and fraudulently obtained credit cards, including multiple pieces of government identification, drivers licences from the Province of Ontario, the Province of Quebec and Citizenship cards from Canada. Also seized were numerous credit cards in names of various individuals and cheques totaling in access of $200,000.

Dodwyn Toris ARIRI, a 42 year old male from Toronto, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:

Section 402.2(2) of the Criminal Code- Adult identity theft- possession of identity information for the purpose of trafficking

Section 56.1 of the Criminal Code- Identity documents

Section 356(1)(b) of the Criminal Code- Possession of Article stolen from mail

Section 342(3)(iii) of the Criminal Code- Traffic – credit card data

Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code- Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

Section 58 of the Criminal Code- Fraudulent use of citizenship document

Section 354(1)(c) of the Criminal Code- Possession of credit card

Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code- Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

Section 368(1)(C) of the Criminal Code- Trafficking in forged document

Section 376(2)(b) of the Criminal Code- Counterfeiting mark – possess

The investigation is continuing.
