(KENORA, ON) – On Sunday, August 18, 2013, approximately 4:30 pm members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with fire and ambulance personnel attended in the area of Hwy. 17 West and Inglis Lake Road west of Kenora regarding a tractor trailer fire. Investigation revealed a west bound tractor trailer developed a mechanical problem that caused a fire in the trailer portion of the unit. The driver was able to pull to the side of the roadway and separate the trailer carrying non dangerous goods from the tractor. Fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire and the trailer was moved off the edge of the roadway into the ditch. There were no injuries as a result of the fire and no charges have been laid. Hwy. 17 West was closed for approximately three hours as a result of the fire. Investigation into the incident is continuing.
