Tractor Trailer Collision Causes Home To Burn Down

(Tweed, ON) – Central Hastings OPP investigated a single motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 4:00 AM August 6th 2016 in the Municipality of Tweed which resulted in careless driving charges.

A northbound tractor trailer carrying fruits and vegetables on Victoria Street, Tweed, left its lane and travelled across the southbound lane onto a front lawn of a residence. The tractor trailer collided with a tree and hydro pole and then became engulfed in flames. The residence caught fire, as well as the neighbouring house.

The occupants and pets of both homes escaped without injury.

The residence where the tractor trailer stopped was demolished. The second house has exterior damage and smoke damage inside.

Tarlochan SINGH (57) of Beamsville Ontario has been charged with careless driving of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
