(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On Wednesday, February 19 2014 at approximately 1:40 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision at the Highway 61 and Chippewa Road intersection.
The driver of a 2012 Toyota was going to merge from the off ramp onto Highway 61 when her vehicle was struck from behind by the driver of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe. The two drivers spoke briefly and upon discussion of contacting police, the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe left the scene.
There were no injuries sustained in the collision.
Within minutes, an OPP officer stopped the Chevrolet Tahoe on Highway 11/17, east of Oliver Road.
Murray HOLOWACK, 51 years of age, from Thunder Bay was issued several summons including;
Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident,
Drive While under Suspension both contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Also, Drive Motor Vehicle with No Insurance, contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
He was also issued several Provincial Offence Notices including;
Follow Too Close,
Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle,
Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner, all contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
He is to appear in Provincial Offences Court April 25 2014.
