(Selwyn Township, ON) – On Tuesday September 23, 2014, members of the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the Regional Support Unit arrested three males in connection to a month long investigation involving fraudulent purchases and stolen property.
Several reports were made to police of businesses being contacted and products being purchased through credit. The transactions would be completed with the products being picked up by the suspects before the seller discovered that the credit card information supplied was fraudulent.
As a result of the investigation, three male adults were arrested and charged with offences. Charged with Fraud Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime are:
1) 53 year old James SMITH of Scarborough
2) 43 year old Richard STEWART of West Hill
3) 52 year old Steven BUCK of Scarborough
The three accused were held for a Bail Hearing in Peterborough Provincial Courts on September 24.
OPP investigator believe that there may be other victims who have not contacted the authorities at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
