This Week In Russell County

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating several incidents after responding to 232 calls for service from Sunday, December 20th to Monday, December 28th. Among those occurrences were the following; a collision involving an injured child, several misdialed 9-1-1 calls, domestic disputes, threats, thefts, a fraud, bail violations, drug offences and three impaired drivers charged.

As a result of those occurrences, one female and 13 males were charged with various offences.

Domestic Disputes

Russell County OPP officers investigated 11 domestic disputes during the past week. six males and one female were charged with spousal assault, assault causing bodily harm and domestic mischief. A 79 years old man was charged for assault causing bodily harm on his 74 years old wife.

Impaired Driver

Russell County OPP conducted 12 R.I.D.E programs; Bradley Kelly, age 27 of Osgoode; Enzo Franchi, age 65 of Cheney and Robert Purdy Mcleod, age 66 of Russell, were arrested on separate incidents and charged with impaired driving, driving with over 80mgs of alcohol and/or care or control. They were all released on a promise to appear in court in L’Orignal in January 2016.

Break and Enter

In the afternoon of December 23rd, Rockland OPP Officers were dispatched to an attempted break in enter in progress. The male suspect was located near the scene. Nicholas Mills, age 18 of Hammond was arrested and charged with following:

Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(a)

Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(b)

Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(b)

Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams CDSA 4(1)

The accused was held and appeared at the L’Orignal Ontario Court of Justice on December 24th, 2015
