(ORILLIA, ON) – Officers from the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to a residence on Douglas Street in the city of Orillia at approximately 5:00 a.m. this date.
Thanks to a member of the public calling in, officers located and arrested a male party who had a numerous items in his possession. These items had been stolen from several motor vehicles.
The area where most of the thefts occurred is in the area of Mary Street, Douglas Street and John Street but may reach beyond.
Roy EAKLEY 34 years, from Orillia has been charged with the following:
Possession of Break In Instruments – 1 count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 3 counts
Theft Under $5000 – 2 counts
He is scheduled to appear in Bail Court in Barrie on this date, March 27th.
Police are asking residents in that vicinity to check their vehicles and call police if they have had any valuables stolen.
This investigation is still ongoing.
