(Ottawa, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Ottawa Detachment has charged a driver after two separate incidents on Highway 417.
On April 28, 2015, at approximately 2:50 pm, an officer was patrolling Highway 417 westbound near the Rochester overpass operating a cruiser equipped with the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system. As a result of a “hit” on the system, the officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was subsequently issued a Summons under the Provincial Offence Act.
On April 29, 2015, at approximately 8:55 am, an officer was patrolling Highway 417 westbound near the Aviation Parkway off-ramp operating a cruiser equipped with the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system. As a result of a “hit” on the system, the officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver was subsequently issued a Summons under the Provincial Offence Act.
The 44 year old male driver of Thunder Bay was charged with: Drive While Under Suspension contrary to section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act (2x counts).
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Ottawa on June 5, 2015.
