STUNT DRIVING CHARGES

(Adjala-TosorontioTownship, ON) On Sunday the 14th of September 2014 at 3:00 p.m. an officer with the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), was on patrol on the 6th Line of Adjala-Tosrontio Township when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

Officers determined that the motor vehicle was travelling 140km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone.

The driver was stopped, and as a result a 19-year old male from Alliston was charged with Stunt Driving. His licence was immediately suspended for seven days and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The penalties for driving over 50kph. over the speed limit are:

Pre-conviction – Immediate 7-day licence suspension and 7-day vehicle Impoundment.
Upon conviction – $2,000 to $10,000 fine, 6 demerit points, up to 6 months jail, up to 2 years licence suspension for first conviction.
Second offence – Driver licence suspension up to 10 years within 10 years of first conviction.
