(CALEDON, ON) – On January 12, 2014 at approximately 7 pm, an off-duty police officer contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report an erratic driver in the Village of Bolton. The off-duty officer reported that the vehicle was travelling at approximately 140 km/hr. in a posted 50 km/hr. zone. Further, the officer stated that the vehicle was seen swerving within the marked lane. Officers located the suspect vehicle, a white Mercedes AMG on Regional Road 50 and Cedar Main and conducted a vehicle stop. During the investigation, a second call was received regarding the driver’s erratic driving behaviour on Queen Street at approximately the same time. Officers received information that the driver was operating the vehicle in excess of 100 km/hr. in a posted 50 km/hr. zone.
As a result of the investigation, Pedram JAFARPOUR, 32 of Vaughan was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result of the stunt driving charge.
The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Caledon on February 24, 2014.
