(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office (OFM), Meaford Fire Department, Inter-Township Fire Department and the OPP Mount Forest Forensic Identification Unit, continue to investigate this morning’s structure fire on Sideroad 6 in the Municipality of Meaford.
Police received report of the fire at approximately 3:31 a.m. this morning, Thursday, January 23, 2014. The one and a half storey, old farm house, was completely engulfed upon arrival.
The OPP have not been able to make with contact with the lone elderly female occupant of the property. Police can confirm that if anyone were inside the home at the time of the fire, they would not have survived as the home was completely destroyed.
The OFM and police investigators will remain at the scene for some time. Further details will be released as they are made available.
Sideroad 6 remains closed between the St. Vincent-Sydenham Townline and the 1st Concession for emergency responders until further notice.
