Stormont Dundas Press Releases

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

(South Stormont) – On March 20, 2015 at approximately 5:21pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 14, South Stormont Township. Investigation revealed that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Terry RAINEY (44) of North Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired

– Driving With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 21, 2015.

(South Dundas) – On March 20, 2015 at approximately 11:37pm, SD&G OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) checks on County Road 1, South Dundas Township. Officers observed an approaching vehicle purposely avoid the initiative. Police followed the vehicle and intercepted it at a property on Broken Second Road, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

James RENNICK (51) of South Dundas Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired

– Driving With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in Blood

– Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on April 7, 2015.

DRUGS AND STOLEN PROPERTY SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOP

(North Glengarry) – On March 20, 2015 at approximately 10:00pm, an SD&G OPP officer intercepted a vehicle on County Road 21, North Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine pills, cannabis resin and a new Husqvarna chainsaw.

The male driver, Christian BLAIS (21) of North Glengarry Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime’

– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 counts)

A male passenger, Pierre MASSIA (22) of North Glengarry Township was also arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on May 15, 2015.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

(South Dundas) – On March 20, 2015, SD&G OPP began an investigation into a report of a domestic situation which occurred in South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a male had repeatedly communicated with his ex-girlfriend.

The 31-year-old male from North Stormont Township was arrested and is charged with;

– Criminal Harassment – Repeatedly Communicate

He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on April 28, 2015.

(South Dundas) – On March 21, 2015 at approximately 12:06am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a property on Broken Second Road, South Dundas Township. Investigation indicated that a verbal altercation between a male and girlfriend had taken place as the couple traveled in a vehicle on County Road 31, South Dundas Township. This resulted in the male uttering a threat towards the female.

The 25-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Uttering Threats – Damage Property

– Fail to Comply with Condition of Recognizance

– Mischief – Interfere with Lawful Use of Property (removed car keys)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall today (March 23, 2015).
