IMPAIRED DRIVER(S)
(South Stormont) – On August 22, 2015 at approximately 2:03pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on County Road 12, South Stormont Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Jason PERREAULT (32) of South Stormont, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood
– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
– Driving While Disqualified
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 22, 2015.
(South Glengarry) – On August 23, 2015 at approximately 2:24am, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The investigation revealed that the adult male driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Andrei STIRBU (27) of Candiac, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood
– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
– Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor readily available (Liquor Licence Act)
– Driving Motor Vehicle with open container of liquor (LLA)
– Speeding (Highway Traffic Act)
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on October 14, 2015.
(South Stormont) – On August 22, 2015 at approximately 7:30pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 138, South Stormont Township. The drivers of the vehicles suffered minor injuries. The investigation revealed that a two door car struck a 4 door car. The adult male driver of the two door car was under the influence of alcohol. During the investigation the adult male made threats towards the officers and resisted the arrest.
Jacques CHAMPAGNE (55) of Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in blood
– Driving a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
– Uttering Threats
– Assault with intent to resist arrest
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 22, 2015.
DRUGS SEIZED AT TRAFFIC STOPS
(South Glengarry) – On August 22, 2015 at approximately 4:20am, Stormont, Dundas &Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers intercepted a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana from three adult males.
Luke AMADOR (19) of Richmond Hill, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
Brett ROBERTSON (20) of Richmond Hill, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
Brandon ABBOTT (21) of Richmond Hill, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Under 30 Grams
The males were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on October 14, 2015.
BREAK IN
(South Stormont) – On August 21, 2015 at approximately 8:53pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Frost Avenue, South Stormont Township.
Investigation indicated that sometime between 11:30am- 2:30pm on August 21, 2015 culprit(s) entered the home and removed several electronics.
An investigation continues.
CHARGES LAID
(South Dundas) On August 23, 2015 at approximately11:58am Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a dog being left in a locked vehicle in the parking lot at Upper Canada Village, South Dundas Township. The investigation revealed that an adult male had left his dog in his vehicle while at Upper Canada Village in the suffocating heat. The animal was rescued and returned to the owner.
Frederic NADEAU (78) of Laval, Quebec was arrested and is charged with;
– Causing Damage or Injury – Failure to Exercise Reasonable Care of an Animal (Criminal Code of Canada).
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Morrisburg on October 13, 2015.
The SD&G OPP and Ontario SPCA (SD&G Branch) would like to remind citizens who own pets not to leave them in vehicles in the heat.
“Leaving your pet unattended in a vehicle is one of the most irresponsible decisions a pet owner can make. Your pet’s safety is your responsibility. Placing them in a dangerous environment could not only be harmful, it could result in the animal owner being charged as well as being fatal to the animal. Let’s make this summer a happy one for all of our family members, including our pets.”

QUICK FACTS:
Dogs have a limited ability to sweat; even a short time in a hot environment can be life-threatening. A dog’s normal body temperature is about 39°C and a temperature of 41°C can be withstood only for a very short time before irreparable brain damage or even death can occur.
Excessive panting, drooling, and listlessness are signs of heatstroke in animals. If you witness these signs in your pet, seek veterinary attention immediately, move the animal to a cool area and offer it drinking water.
Leaving a pet unattended in a vehicle could result in charges being laid against you under the OSPCA Act and/or the Criminal Code of Canada.
