(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Over the past weekend, the City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 96 calls for service. These calls were received between Friday night at 6:00 pm and Monday morning at 6:00 am.
On August 21, 2015 at approximately 10:20 pm an officer initiated a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) infraction. As a result of an investigation, Jordan SMITH, 20 years of age, of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Race a motor vehicle contrary to the HTA
Drive a motor vehicle with liquor readily available contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
Young Driver with Blood Alcohol Content (B.A.C.) above zero contrary to the HTA
Driver fail to surrender licence contrary to the HTA
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle contrary to the HTA
The accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 1, 2015.
On August 22, 2015 at approximately 5:15 pm a driving complaint was reported to the OPP. The vehicle was involved in a single vehicle crash on Zion Road and the driver was arrested at the scene. Ian SMITH, 28 years of age, of the City of Kawartha Lakes is charged with:
Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Driving with more than 80mgs of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 24, 2015.
On August 23, 2015 at approximately 2:15 am an officer initiated a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. After an investigation, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Vincent THOMAS, 41 years of age, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 24, 2015.
On August 23, 2015 at approximately 4:00 am an officer investigated a loud noise behind the detachment. As a result of the investigation a stolen lawn tractor was recovered and the following persons were charged:
Chase LINDSAY, 19 years of age, of Sarnia was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Joey MYERSCOUGH, 21 years of age, of Lindsay was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Theft of a Motor Vehicle both Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Both persons will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 24, 2015.
