(New Tecumseth Township, ON) On the 16th of September 2014, at 2:00 a.m. officers from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment were dispatched to a business alarm in the Town of Alliston.
Further investigation revealed that the business had been broken into, and items were stolen. A passerby witness made observations of the vehicle, the occupants and the direction of travel and relayed the information to officers.
Officers flooded the area, and were able to locate the vehicle involved at the intersection of County Road 15 and County Road 5 of Adjala-Tosorontio Township.
Through further investigation, the occupants of the vehicle were arrested and officers recovered the stolen property. The vehicle was identified to have been stolen from Alliston area on the 16th of September 2014.
A 26-year old and 28-year old male from the City of Barrie were arrested and charged with:
Theft Over $5000 contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
Break and Enter contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
Two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 354 (1)(a) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
Both have been held for a bail hearing on the 16th of September 2014 at the Provincial Court in Barrie.
