Stephane LETOURNEAU – Drunk Driving

(Hawkesbury, ON) – In the evening of Thursday April 24th, at approximately 11:30 pm. Hawkesbury OPP officers received a complaint from the Sureté du Québec that someone had just left a bar in Grenville QC and was headed towards Hawkesbury possibly impaired. The suspect was a male driving a Suzuki motorcycle.

Constable John Léger of the Hawkesbury OPP patrolled the bridge area in search of the possible impaired driver.

A motorcycle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was intercepted at the intersection of Du Chenail Boulevard and John Street in the Town of Hawkesbury.

The traffic stop gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had his abilities impaired for driving.

The driver was arrested and brought to the police station.

Stéphane LÉTOURNEAU (43) of Hawkesbury, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:

– 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired.
– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

The driver was also charged under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act with the following sections:

– 7(1)(a) Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
– 32(1) Drive motor vehicle – no licence

He was later released on a promise to appear in court on May 24th, 2014 in L’Orignal.
His motorcycle was seized and impounded for 7 days as per Ontario’s VIP program.
