(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On October 31, 2015 at approximately 11:12 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a rear-end collision involving two vehicles on Wellington Road 124 near Kossuth Road Guelph-Eramosa Township.
Investigation revealed that a westbound 2005 Saturn collided with a vehicle that was also travelling westbound, that was stopped and waiting to complete a left hand turn into a private driveway. Upon speaking with and observing the driver, police determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
59-year-old Stanley Kitchen of Cambridge has been charged with Over 80 mgs and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 8, 2015 to answer to the charges.
