(IGNACE, ON) – On Monday, November 14, 2016 at approximately 11:44 am, Ignace members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a stolen motor vehicle on Highway 17, Osaquan Township.
The vehicle would not stop for Police and a spike belt was deployed on Highway 17 in Ignace Township. The suspect vehicle ran over the spike belt and the vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder of the road.
The driver, Connie SAWDO (45 years old) of Zealand Township was arrested and charged with Theft of a motor vehicle contrary to Section 333.1 of the Criminal Code, Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and Flight while pursued by a Peace Officer contrary to Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
SAWDO was held in custody and will appear in Dryden court on November 15, 2016 to answer to the charges.
