(BLUEWATER, ON) – A traffic stop for speeding turned into a little more after police found the driver in possession of marihuana. On August 4, 2015 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Honda Civic speeding along Zurich-Hensall Road at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed the vehicle’s speed with a RADAR device and measured the speed at 116 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.
While speaking with the driver the officer detected the presence of marihuana inside the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest and a quantity of marihuana was located when police searched the vehicle.
As a result, David STEPHENSON, 25 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Speeding and Possession of a Schedule II Substance (Marihuana). He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on October 22, 2015.
