(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 37-year-old male from Huron East will be heading to court later this summer after he was stopped by police for speeding this past weekend. At approximately 9:45 p.m. on August 7, 2015 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling eastbound on Mill Road at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed the speed of the vehicle at 120 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.
Upon stopping the vehicle the officer spoke with the male driver. The officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol so a demand for the roadside screening test was given to the driver. The driver subsequently provided a sample of his breath and his test resulted in a Fail. He was immediately placed under arrest and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 37-year-old Shaun MCADAM has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Speeding and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on September 14, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
