(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Sunday March 23, 2014 at 6:50 am, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment, responded to a snowmobile collision on Allen Lake in the Municipality of Dysart et al, Ontario. Allen Lake is located within Harcourt Park. A male was operating a 2010 Arctic Cat snowmobile with a female passenger when they struck a tree near the shoreline. The male driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The female passenger sustained life threatening injuries and was air lifted to a Toronto area hospital. The names of those involved are being withheld until next-of-kin notifications have been completed. The collision is currently under investigation by OPP technical collision investigators. It appears at this time that speed may have been a factor in the collision.
