(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On July 24, 2015 at approximately 12:24 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E spot checks on Highway 6 near College Avenue in the City of Guelph. Officers investigated the driver of a 1999 Volkswagon that entered into the check point.
While speaking with the driver, police detected the faint odour of fresh marihuana. The driver surrendered a plastic container that contained suspected marihuana and he was placed under arrest.
46-year-old Robert MEADOWS of Elora has been charged with Possession of a Marihuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal court on September 4, 2015 to answer to this charge.
