(PORT HOPE, ON) – On Tuesday December 2, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter and theft to a residence while the home owner was away for the day in the Municipality of Port Hope.
Sometime between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Tuesday unknown persons forced their way into the County Road 65 residence. The home owner / victim returned home just after 5:00 pm and found his house had been entered. The suspects ransacked the master bedroom, taking jewelry, a Canon Power shot digital SD1100is camera, banking pass books and $140 cash taken and five silver coins. These coins are considered to be “five Troy ounces†in weight and are .9995 % silver. They are unique as they have “Scotiabank†markings on them. (See attached photo) The victim’s valuable electronics and portable mobile devices were not taken.
The estimated total value of all property stolen is close to $18,000.
Northumberland OPP Detachment Scenes of Crime officer (SOCO) and Street Response Team (SRT) are assisting with this continuing investigation.
