Shane Smith – Drunk Driving, Resist, Unmarked Cigarettes

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On Sunday June 19th, 2016 at 11:30pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Quinte West detachment responded to a possible impaired driving complaint. The complainant was working in the drive-through of a Trenton restaurant and believed the driver of a vehicle who just left the drive-through was impaired by alcohol. The vehicle was located by Police a short time later on Trenton-Frankford Road in the City of Quinte West. Police investigation revealed that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and Police attempted to place the driver under arrest. The driver was assaultive towards Police and resisted the arrest. The female passenger in the vehicle was also assaultive towards Police and was placed under arrest.

Shane Smith, 42, of Frankford was charged with the following Criminal and Provincial offences:

Driving a Motor Vehicle while ability Impaired by Alcohol

Fail or Refuse to provide Breath Sample

Resist Peace Officer

Fail to Surrender Licence

Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

Smith was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of July 7th, 2016.

The vehicle passenger, Danielle Roblin, 35, of Trenton was charged with Assault a Peace Officer. Roblin was also released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of August 4th, 2016, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
