Several Sent To Hospital After Two Vehicle Collision

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – On July 23, 2016, at approximately 4:44 p.m., the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Central Elgin Fire Services, and the Elgin St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.

A car travelling eastbound on Ron McNeil Line, and a van travelling northbound on Belmont Road, collided in the intersection. Ron McNeil Line is governed by stop signs.

The driver of the car, an adult female, and two of the children in the vehicle, were transported to hospital by ambulance, with non-life threatening injures.

A third child in the car was transported to hospital with by ambulance, with possible life threatening injuries.

The driver of the van, an adult female, was uninjured.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are attending the scene to assist with the investigation.

As a result, Belmont Road is closed between Mapleton Line and Edgeware Line. Ron McNeil Line is closed between Yarmouth Centre Road, and Buis Line. Motorists will have to find alternative routes.

This investigation is in its early stages. An update with be released when details become available.
