SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY COLLISION

(Asphodel Norwood Township, ON) – On Wednesday January 22, shortly before 3 p.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of County Road 38 and County Road 2.

Police and emergency personnel attended the scene to discover that two motor vehicles had been involved in a collision at the intersection. Initial investigation revealed that a west bound commercial van travelling on County Road 2 had struck a south bound 4 door sedan that had been on County Road 38.

Emergency personnel attended to both involved parties. The male driver of the Van was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for medical treatment. The female driver of the sedan had to be extracted from her vehicle by the Asphodel Norwood Fire Department by the “Jaws of Life” The female was airlifted by helicopter to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto for treatment of serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and the highway is at this time closed around the intersection with traffic being rerouted to Centre Line north of County Road 2.
