(Dryden, ON) –On Friday August 5, 2016 at approximately 8:35pm members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a small car and a Tractor Trailer unit at Hwy 17, Melgund Township.
Wabigoon Fire Department along with North West EMS attended the scene and extricated the male driver from the motor vehicle. As a result of the investigation the driver, Scott DAUK (39yrs old) from Stonewall Manitoba has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and drive with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. The OPP deployed the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation unit (TTCI) to assist in the incident. Hwy 17 was down to one lane, and fully opened by 6am. The accused has been released from custody with a court date of 22August 2016 in Dryden to answer to the charge.
